French clubs line up move for Tom Davies as Everton exit news emerges

Tom Davies is now set to leave Everton this summer following the expiration of his contract and has received interest from France, according to The Guardian journalist Ed Aarons.

Football Transfers revealed on 15 June that the Toffees had offered the midfielder new terms on Merseyside with some guarantees of a suitable amount of appearances for the next campaign.

However, Everton announced on 22 June that the Finch Farm academy product is now set to call time on his 11-year Everton career, going on to make 179 appearances, scoring seven goals.

The Times journalist Paul Joyce revealed [22 June], that the midfielder has a number of offers elsewhere, and Aarons, taking to his Twitter account tweeted:

“Understand Tom Davies has interest from several clubs in France”

France could be ideal

Despite arriving at the club as an 11-year-old and subsequently rising the ranks at Goodison Park, it is time for Davies to move on to a new chapter in his career.

After falling down the pecking order at Goodison Park under the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Amadou Onana, James Garner and Idrissa Gueye, it was impossible to see Davies continue his development constantly sitting on the bench.

Everton

It was rather baffling that Everton decided to offer new terms when they knew he won’t be playing as much as he would like next season, and the midfielder has certainly made the right call to quit now.

A new chapter in France may well prove the ideal next step for Davies to discover himself again after he’d lost his way at Goodison Park under rather unfortunate circumstances such as injuries, lack of opportunities and poor for.

Everton can certainly take some blame for that, and it’s certainly best for all parties involved that they part ways now.
