January transfer embargo looms as pressure ramps up on Everton

Pressure is mounting on Sean Dyche and the Everton board to deliver during the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

Tom Davies is the latest player to leave the club after rejecting the chance to stay at Goodison Park upon the expiry of his contract.

However, The Telegraph now write on 22 June that a proactive window is required with there now doubt over the Toffees’ ability to spend during the January window with a Premier League hearing looming in October.

“Pressure is increasing not only to confirm the structure of a new board, but also show a level of proactivity in recruitment so that Dyche can build on his work in the final weeks of the last campaign,” they wrote.

“With a hearing regarding a Premier League charge for Everton’s alleged overspending looming in October, Dyche needs a strong transfer window now because he cannot be sure he will be permitted to sign anyone in January given the potential punishment in the event of a guilty verdict.”

Bad to worse

It feels as if Everton just stumble from one problem to another at present.

This is purely down to Farhad Moshiri. The sooner he departs the club, the better for everyone. His attitude and careless acts have resulted in two consecutive relegation-threatened campaigns.

MSP Sports Capital are reportedly close to completing their investment into the club and this should come as good news.

The main issues have been due to poor decision-making in and around the boardroom. For too long, unprofessionalism has clouded Goodison Park. The fact that Moshiri has missed his own deadline regarding Bill Kenwright’s future tells us all we need to know.

Realistically, the board need to have the transfer window of all transfer windows to prevent a similar scenario from emerging again next season.

Dyche will be desperate for another striker to arrive. Neal Maupay has been a woeful signing and Dominic Calvert-Lewin cannot stay fit for more than one or two matches at a time.

A prolific frontman has to be number one on former Burnley man’s wishlist.
