Everton joined by Luton Town and West Ham United in Emiliano Martinez race

Everton are reportedly in a three-club race to secure the services of Emiliano Martinez along with Luton Town and West Ham.

Sport 890 journalist Rodri Vázquez, the 23-year-old has had a good season with FC Midtjylland and has attracted suitors from different countries.

He claims that his exit is set in stone amid interest from clubs overseas, including the Premier League.

Vazquez wrote on Twitter, “To the proposal of Everton and West Ham United is added that of the youngest of the league: Luton Town, a team that will play for the first time in the circle of privilege.

“At this time, the three English soccer clubs are the ones with the chances of having the Uruguayan at the wheel.

“Emiliano Martínez has had a great season at Midtjylland 🇩🇰 and that has aroused interest in major European leagues.”

Press resistant

Everton have mainly hard working players in midfield but do not have anyone really comfortable on the ball and helping to build from the back.

In Martinez, they will have someone who can play with his back to the opposition goal and resist pressing midfielders by playing the ball around the back four or even taking players on.

The Toffees are aware of this and per Vazquez, have already made an opening bid for the Uruguayan midfielder ahead of a potential move this summer.

It remains to be seen if they can convince him to join ahead of West Ham who can offer him better wages and also European football.

With Declan Rice set to leave, they will also free up a decent amount of funds that they can use to sign other players and can offer competitive salaries as well.

It’s evident that the Toffees need a midfield this summer, with Tom Davies set to leave and Amadou Onana also linked with an exit.

In other Everton news, a star player is very unhappy at the club and has made it clear that he wants to leave Goodison Park for good this summer.
