Middlesbrough ready to ‘battle’ for Everton striker Ellis Simms
Middlesbrough have joined the race to sign in-demand Everton striker Ellis Simms, according to TEAMtalk.
It’s believed Sunderland, Ipswich and Stoke are all targeting the 22-year-old striker, who has one year left on his deal at Goodison Park (TEAMtalk, 23 June).
Michael Carrick’s side are now “ready to battle” their rivals for the former Sunderland loanee’s signature as they look to bolster their attack.

Gametime
Simms needs to head out and get minutes under his belt.
He’s looked like a lively option during his brief spells on the pitch for the Toffees, but, realistically, is he the answer to Sean Dyche’s striking issues? The answer is probably no.
With another striker almost certain to come through the door before the end of the transfer window, chances will become few and far between for the 22-year-old.
Heading back to the Championship to become a regular feature and goalscorer is exactly what he needs. A permanent home and a fresh start could do Simms well.

For Everton, they will be delighted with the amount of interest. With a number of Championship sides taking a look, the prospect of a bidding war has become a genuine possibility.
With funds certainly being tight, this could be an excellent way for Everton to generate some funds during the 2023 summer window with a prolific forward near the top of Dyche’s wishlist.
The days of Neal Maupay and Dominic Cavlert-Lewin being constantly injured need to come to an end. For too long, the Toffees have been blunt at the top end of the pitch.
