Everton want to sign Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, battle on with Burnley and Nottingham Forest

Everton are in the race to sign Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho after their relegation from the Premier League, according to Tribal Football.

Sean Dyche is desperate to add some goals and options to his forward line for the new season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling for fitness and both Ellis Simms and Neal Maupay not good enough for what we need.

But after the Foxes were shockingly relegated at the end of the season, a host of their players are now likely to leave the club including Nigeria striker Iheanacho who has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

“Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is attracting Premier League interest,” they wrote (25 June).

“After relegation this season, the Nigeria international could be among players to be sold by the Foxes in the coming months.

“Iheanacho has been linked with Nottingham Forest, with Burnley and Everton also among clubs keen.”

Temptation

Iheanacho is a really good footballer with great technical ability, pace and a goal threat, but he has struggled in recent seasons.

Injuries have been a problem for him though and the one thing this team doesn’t need is another player who will likely command a decent transfer fee and a decent wage who can’t be trusted to be available on a regular basis.

His goal record isn’t the best but his style of play is very similar to Calvert-Lewin’s and we saw how much better the team was with his presence in it under Sean Dyche.

If the club can secure a deal that is for a relatively low fee and get affordable wages, then it could prove to be a shrewd bit of business if they can pull it off.

There is competition, but he will likely get more regular football at Goodison Park than anywhere else and that could prove vital after playing second-fiddle to Jamie Vardy for so long.
