Finance expert drops ‘intriguing’ verdict amid Farhad Moshiri Everton confirmed appointment
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has suggested it’s “intriguing” to see Farhad Moshiri appoint himself as a director seven years after buying Everton.
The Toffees confirmed six changes on Companies House on Sunday 25 June, with three members of the board departing Goodison Park.
Moshiri has been appointed as a director and Maguire believes it is an “intriguing” development.
“Everton Boardroom changes confirmed. Intriguing that Farhad Moshiri was appointed seven years after buying the club. Hope the shareholders approved,” he wrote (via Twitter, 25 June).
Interesting
This is an interesting and extremely bold move by the Everton majority shareholder.
Quite why he has appointed himself as a director now remains to be seen. The majority of Evertonians will be fairly concerned by this development. Moshiri leaving Goodison Park is what most fans were hoping for.
With MSP Sports Capital now closing in on a stake in the club, there will be some hope that Moshiri’s reign is finally reaching a conclusion.

It will be a slow process but, with gradual investment, the make-up of the board could eventually change at Goodison Park.
Everton’s immediate concern has to be the summer transfer window and, realistically, the board need to have the transfer window of all transfer windows to prevent a similar scenario from emerging again next season.
With some fresh faces now in place, it’s absolutely essential for the board to make intelligent decisions during the off-season to support Sean Dyche as much as possible heading into the brand new 2023/24 season.
