Rodrigo is perfect fit for Everton on cut-price summer transfer after standout Leeds United campaign

Everton have been craving a proven Premier League striker for what seems an eternity now, and Leeds United forward Rodrigo looks the perfect fit to take up this mantle at Goodison Park.

Tutto Mercato Web reported on 24 June that talks between the recently relegated Whites and Everton had reached advanced stages for Rodrigo’s services and that a deal could be on the cards this week.

COPE previously shared (7 June) that the Spanish international has a release clause of just £3million after Leeds United’s relegation to the Championship, so a deal should be financed with relative ease, despite all the ongoing issues behind the scenes at Goodison Park.

Former Daily Star journalist Paul Brown admitted that the Toffees would’ve no problems affording such an outlay, telling GiveMeSport: “Rodrigo, clearly, is the kind of signing that Everton could currently fund.

He said: “Until new investment comes in and the board is properly reshuffled, it’s difficult for Everton to commit huge funding to any kind of transfer at the moment.

“That is an interesting one. He does have a pretty good goalscoring record in the Premier League, particularly if you compare him to Everton’s current strikers.”

Although no reports are yet to emerge about the war chest that Sean Dyche will be given this summer, and whether outgoings will be required before signings are brought into the club, this should be a deal that could be brokered either way.

Everton

Rodrigo is a proven Premier League goalscorer and was a standout player at Elland Road, despite the club’s relegation last season, netting 13 goals from 31 outings.

There are far worse options on the market who have no experience of Premier League football for ten times the price of the 32-year-old.

Yes, his age is a bit of a worry, and Everton would only be signing his services for a shorter period of time, but there is little to no risk attached to such a cheap signing.

He would present competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and could even play in a front two alongside the Englishman if required.

This transfer ticks a lot of boxes and the Toffees would be foolish not to get this deal over the line in the early stages of the transfer window.

In Everton news, Alan Myers has shared a major update on Sean Dyche’s future after a development over his sacking has emerged over the past few days.
