Everton transfer news as Leeds United switch mooted for outgoing ace Tom Davies

Everton midfielder Tom Davies has been mooted with a move to Championship club Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old will leave Goodison Park at the end of the month upon the expiry of his contract, as confirmed by the official Everton website.

And Leeds Live journalist Matty Hewitt has suggested that the midfielder could be a good addition at Leeds, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

“One player who could speculatively fill a void in Leeds’ midfield is soon-to-be free agent Tom Davies,” Hewitt wrote for Leeds Live.

“The Toffees academy graduate burst onto the scene at Goodison Park but has turned down fresh turns from the club.”

Sensible move

Davies clearly wants to be playing regular first-team football, having been handed just 20 appearances in all competitions last season; 19 in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup.

The midfielder needs more minutes at this stage of his career, and those could definitely arrive at Leeds, who should be keen to get in Davies on a free transfer as they plot their return to the top flight.

The Whites won’t want to spend too much money this summer, and they could do a lot worse than bringing the experienced Toffees man to Elland Road.

He could become a key figure in West Yorkshire, and could find himself back in the Premier League in no time at all if Leeds get off to a strong start in the upcoming Championship campaign.

A product of the Everton youth academy, Davies is set for an emotional Goodison farewell, but he could put that behind him by moving to Leeds and getting stuck into pre-season training.

In other Everton news, the Toffees want to sign a “prized asset” from Leeds United amid a likely Elland Road “exodus” this summer.
