Everton transfer news as Viktor Gyokeres closes in on £18.5m Coventry City departure
Everton transfer target Viktor Gyokeres is closing in on an £18.5million move from Coventry City to Sporting CP, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper noted that the Toffees, along with Brentford and West Ham, have been showing an interest in the striker.
The Sweden international scored 21 goals in 49 Championship matches last season as Coventry lost on penalties to Luton Town in the play-off final.

“Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres is closing on an £18.5million move to Sporting Lisbon,” according to the Daily Mail.
“The Swede has had interest from Brentford, West Ham and Everton but Sporting have made the best offer so far.”
Huge blow
Everton fans may be wanting their club to look beyond the second division of English football for new faces this summer, but they could certainly do a lot worse than adding Gyokeres to their ranks.
The striker enjoyed a superb season for Coventry as they ultimately fell at the final hurdle in the Championship.

He may not get the chance to prove himself in the English top flight, but the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins have all shown in recent times that Championship strikers are more than capable of making the step up to the Premier League with relative ease.
The Toffees are in desperate need of reinforcements all over the pitch as they look to avoid a third successive relegation battle, but this latest development will come as a blow to their attacking aspirations, the area where they perhaps need to strengthen most this summer.
In other Everton news, one Manchester City player has sent a four-word message to Toffees ace James Garner.
