Everton want to sign Basel forward Dan Ndoye, talks taking place – Fabrizio Romano

Everton are among a number of clubs who want to sign FC Basel forward Dan Ndoye this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Toffees are desperate to add to their attacking options this summer with Ellis Simms and Neal Maupay’s futures up in the air, while Demarai Gray is also being targeted by several clubs.

The club have been linked with several different options, but according to the reliable Romano the latest name on the agenda is Switzerland youngster Ndoye following his performances during the 2022/23 campaign.

“Talks are taking place for Dan Ndoye as things will move in the next days as now U21 Euros are over for him,” he wrote on his personal Instagram account (2 July).

“West Ham, Everton, Sporting, Porto and AS Monaco are tracking Swiss forward young talent; he was part of the team of the season in Conference League.”

Talented

Everton have been struggling in recent times to find reliable goalscorers in attack, and Ndoye is of a similar mould in terms of not being a numbers heavy attacker.

The Swiss youngster got five goals and seven assists in 54 appearances for Basel last season but impressed in the Europa Conference League, while his goalscoring record at Under-21 level for the national team is good.

He is capable of playing on both wings, and that could be a sign that Sean Dyche is willing to let Demarai Gray leave or at least is expecting him to go before the new season starts.

But with the issues within the squad pointing towards goals, Ndoye doesn’t really help solve that problem.

There is plenty of interest in him across Europe and for Everton to convince him that Goodison Park is the place to be in the 2023/24 season, they’ll need to promise him first-team football and that would likely mean the strength of the first-choice lineup is decreasing.

In other Everton news, major transfer news elsewhere could be a big blow for the Toffees this summer.
