Everton bidding war stance shared as Sunderland, Ipswich Town and Coventry City want to sign Ellis Simms

Everton are reportedly hoping to spark a bidding war as Swansea, Sunderland, Ipswich Town and Coventry City want to sign Ellis Simms.

According to the Northern Echo [05 July], the Toffees are open to allowing him to leave as he’s got just a year left on his deal.

However, amid his £10million valuation, the Black Cats are expected to drop out of the race to sign the 22-year-old.

Funds needed

Money has been tight at Goodison Park this summer and that’s not going to change unless and until they cash in on some players.

Amadou Onana looks like the most expensive asset that could be sold this summer but Simms’ sale can also generate decent funds.

He was recalled from his loan at Sunderland and while he did score that goal against Chelsea, his first-team impact was pretty erratic.

Even though he’s 22 and will get better, Sean Dyche would want to improve his first eleven to give them the best chance of taking steps in the right direction.

The Toffees are not at that stage where they can have a project manager as currently, it’s all about getting the job done.

It remains to be seen how many clubs do actively engage in a bidding war if it does indeed take place for Simms this summer.

In Everton news, Alan Myers has shared a major update on Sean Dyche’s future after a development over his sacking has emerged recently.
