Finance expert sheds light on Everton hope amid Goodison Park ‘madness’
Everton are finally starting to see some positive financial signs amid the “madness” at Goodison Park, according to finance expert Dr Dan Plumley.
The Liverpool Echo reports (5 July) how the Toffees have been blighted by issues with Financial Fair Play having accumulated £300million of losses in a four-year period.
Back in March the club were hit with a charge over alleged breaches, something the club has strongly refuted and is challenging.

But in better news for Everton fans, the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham last season eased some of the financial burden, while Anthony Gordon’s £40million exit to Newcastle United could tip the club back into the black when the latest financial figures are released.
With the £130m deal for 25% of the club with MSP Sports Capital on the horizon and a fire sale of prized assets such as Amadou Onana avoided, Plumley explained why things might be starting to look up at Goodison Park.
“I think we are starting to see some little pieces of positivity in all the madness,” Plumley told the Echo.
“There do seem to be more things happening to be optimistic about. They didn’t need to sell any key players in a rush before the end of the financial year like they did last year, which points to things maybe getting a little easier.
“Any transfer fees for players sold look at the book value of players and the cases of Richarlison and Gordon are very different. Selling Gordon in January was a very profitable exercise for Everton.”

Finally some good news
The past two seasons have been nothing short of shambolic at Goodison Park.
Two extremely close brushes with relegation from the Premier League occurred amid a backdrop of deep fan unrest against the running of the club by Farhad Moshiri and the board.
Several changes have now occurred in the boardroom, and while Bill Kenwright is still in position it was suggested in the Echo report that is merely due to the transitional phase going on at Goodison Park.
The investment from MSP should help things financially at Goodison Park, and Everton can perhaps look forward now with some cautious optimism.
Of course, that does not change the fact Sean Dyche needs signings if he is to start moving the club up the table and, as yet, the Toffees have not made inroads in terms of incomings.
Finally some good news, but there is still much work to be done.
In other Everton news, Everton are leading Aston Villa in the race for Leeds ace Willy Gnonto.
