Everton players undergo dental and vision check-ups as ‘first day back’ Finch Farm insight emerges

Everton players underwent two hours of medical examinations on their first day back at pre-season, according to the Liverpool Echo.

This involved both dental and vision check-ups, with Toffees players also spending time in the gym and on the training pitches.

The Merseyside outfit begin the new Premier League season at home to Fulham on 12 August after narrowly securing their survival last time out.

“The first day back started with two hours of medical examinations, tests including dental and vision check-ups,” according to the Liverpool Echo.

“Two hours of gym work followed either side of lunch as coaches oversaw benchline tests. In the afternoon the players took to the grass for the first time as they headed out onto the training pitches.”

Big few weeks ahead

The new Premier League campaign is rapidly approaching, meaning Toffees manager Sean Dyche really does have his work cut out for him after what happened last season.

Everton only just managed to retain their top-flight status on the last day of the campaign, in what was a hugely worrying season for all involved with the club.

Now Dyche has it all to do in what is his first pre-season on Merseyside, with the players knowing full well just how difficult things will be in the coming weeks as the manager looks to get them in the best shape possible.

New faces will definitely be needed if Everton are to have any hope of having a better season next time around, but for now, the current group must work hard in the gym and on the training pitch to get into shape after their holidays.

A third successive Premier League relegation battle really isn’t what anyone wants, but it could be a real possibility if things don’t go well in pre-season.

In other Everton news, one journalist has mooted summer exits for three Toffees players who give Dyche a “major headache.”
