Mason Holgate misses Everton pre-season training camp through injury
Mason Holgate has been left out of the Everton training camp in Switzerland as he is dealing with an injury, according to the Daily Mail.
The defender was a glaring omission from the squad as the club announced the players travelling to Switzerland for a two-day training camp on Monday.
But while no official explanation was given for his absence, the 26-year-old is being treated for an injury and was left behind as he wouldn’t be fit enough to take part in the sessions.

“Everton travelled to Switzerland for pre-season training on Monday with defenders Mason Holgate and Vitaliy Mykolenko staying behind for treatment on injuries,” they wrote (10 July).
Exit bound
Holgate’s future at the club is most certainly up in the air right now, with the club reportedly open to offers for him this summer.
It’s previously been reported that he was in advanced talks with Sheffield United about a loan move this season, but those talks have not materialised into a move yet and he’s still part of Sean Dyche’s squad for now.
However there is little point in him travelling abroad for training he can’t take part in and if he isn’t in the manager’s plans for the upcoming season anyway then there is even less point to it.

His future hasn’t been decided yet clearly, but it isn’t a risk worth taking at this early stage of pre-season and with so much time remaining in the transfer window.
But the fact that he hasn’t been totally ruled out of the squad and has instead just been left at home due to an injury means there is a chance he comes back into the fold, so it’s one to keep an eye on.
