Marcel Brands wants PSV to sign Tom Davies after Everton exit decision
Marcel Brands could reportedly use his Goodison Park links to usher former Tom Davies to PSV Eindhoven after he was released by Everton, according to Voetbalzone.
The 25-year-old is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract this summer despite being offered a new deal by Everton but is yet to find a new club amid interest from Turkish outfits and Serie A side Bologna [La Gazzetta dello Sport]
However, ex-Toffees chief Brands, who’s now PSV’s director of football, may be able to convince the Englishman to continue his career in the Netherlands with the league runner-ups due to his past connection to the club.

New challenge
The list of English Premier League players switching to the Eredivisie is a small list, but Davies may be the latest.
Davies’ Everton career had dwindled since Dyche came into the club as he earned no starts and was chosen over the likes of Idrissa Gueye and James Garner as Everton narrowly escaped relegation.

He never became the indispensable presence in the Everton midfield that man fans would have wanted, considering he is an Everton supporter and came all the way through the academy for his boyhood club.
But amid regular chaos at Everton, whether it be managerial changes or relegation battles, the former England youth regular kept getting lost in the shuffle and his shelf life at the club expired.
Perhaps he saw this too and decided a move away from Everton would be the best step towards regular football again with him only playing 28 games in the last two seasons. Injury issues too have caused Davies some unneeded setbacks, so perhaps a fresh start in the Eredivisie would suit him.
It could not have been an easy decision for Davies to leave the club after 14 years, so he must have plans and new ambitions outside Merseyside, but the seeming lack of concrete interest since he became a free agent may be a concern.
However, for Davies, it’s a story of what could have been for the club’s youngest-ever captain.
In other Everton news, after confirming the signature of the veteran Ashley Young, the Toffees are reportedly eyeing up there more transfers this window.
