Everton dealt transfer blow as Brian Brobbey does not wish to leave Ajax this summer

Everton have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ajax striker Brian Brobbey, as the player does not wish to leave his club this summer, according to Voetbal International journalist Reon Boeringa.

The Dutch journalist revealed via his personal Twitter account on Thursday [20 July] that Sky Sports’ report of Everton’s interest in Brobbey was true and seemed possible, but the striker does not have a summer departure from Amsterdam on his agenda.

This news will come as a blow to Everton, who are looking to strengthen in the striker department this summer, but there will still be hope that a deal could be done if they can convince Brobbey to make the switch to Merseyside.

Things are starting to heat up

It was a slow start to the transfer window for Everton, who still have only completed one signing in 38-year-old Ashley Young, but stories are now starting to heat up with a number of players being targeted by the Toffees.

The news of Brobbey’s intentions comes shortly after it was revealed by Fabrizio Romano that another Dutch international looks set to join Everton – Arnaut Danjuma.

If the club can bring in Danjuma as well as Brobbey, their goal of strengthening the squad up front will have been achieved, as either would be good enough to start for the club or provide some brilliant options from the bench.

Everton

Versatile and quick attacking players have clearly been on Everton’s radar this summer, as both of their Dutch targets have the ability to play anywhere across the front line as they provide depth not only upfront but also on the wings.

If Everton can follow up on some of their interests in the coming days, the rest of this transfer window could finally begin to stir excitement among Toffees fans.

In other Everton news, the club have had a bid accepted to sign exciting talent.
