Everton transfer news as Sevilla out of race to sign Victor Boniface

Sevilla are out of the race to sign Union Saint-Gilloise striker Victor Boniface with Everton the “most interested”, according to La Colina de Nervion.

The Spanish outlet (20 July) outlines the Europa League winners’ need to sell both Rafa Mir and Youssef En-Nesyri to have any chance of landing the Nigeria international.

However, the reality for the Spanish club is that they are out of the race to sign Boniface, with both the Toffees and Bayer Leverkusen the most interested parties in the 22-goal striker (Transfermarkt), who is currently valued at around €15million (£13m).

Sevilla want to take advantage of the 22-year-old’s desire to play in Spain and at Champions League-level, which they’ll be participating in next season, but their current situation leaves Everton and Leverkusen as the leaders in the race.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported on 16 July that the Toffees have made an approach to sign the gifted forward and while there is no offer on the table, the player is open to a move.

Convince him

The 22-year-old Nigerian enjoyed a sensational campaign last term scoring 22 goals and registering 12 assists in all competitions for USG and his former club Bodo/Glimt, having moved to the former in August.

It is no secret just how much Everton are in need of attacking reinforcements this summer, with the Toffees really struggling in the final third since losing Brazilian ace Richarlison to Tottenham. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury troubles haven’t helped matters either.

Everton

The Toffees are in real need of a reliable goal-scoring presence in the box and Boniface is a talent the Everton hierarchy and Sean Dyche simply have to convince.

While Boniface may be something of an unknown quantity to some Everton fans and arguably unproven at this level, his record over the past year is something the Toffees have to give consideration to.

The Premier League has been known to spring some surprise gems in the past and Boniface represents the perfect transfer tonic for Everton to exploit this summer, with the Nigerian striker possessing all the attributes to become a household name at Goodison Park.

Across a staggering 55 appearances in all competitions, Boniface bagged an impressive 34 goal involvements and his well-rounded profile and the way he’s excelled in Belgium means he looks ready for a step up to a more fierce league.

Get Boniface in through the Goodison Park doors.
