Bill Kenwright to stay at Everton after Farhad Moshiri ‘said no’ in ‘no accountability’ verdict – Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell isn’t convinced that Bill Kenwright will be leaving Everton in the near future after staying when “the time was right” to go this summer.
The Toffees chairman was convinced to remain in place by owner Farhad Moshiri and the club announced him as staying in place on 23 June, 11 days after three former board members resigned and the club promised an update on him within 48 hours.
The wide assumption is that Kenwright, 77, will follow Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Grant Ingles and Graeme Sharp before long but given what has happened so far this summer Campbell thinks that is anything but a foregone conclusion.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News the Sky Sports pundit reacted to the assumption that the chairman has to move on sooner or later, saying: “Does he? Does he? If ever he was going to go the time was right now.
“Because you’ve got new investment coming in, new board members, you could have a clean slate.
“But Moshiri said no. That is rubbing the fans the wrong way straight away.
“And this is the thing, not all the fans are against Kenwright but it’s the majority who are because all this mediocrity and battling relegation, and the money that Everton have spent, they shouldn’t be in this position.
“So there has to be accountability, and as far as they’re concerned [there isn’t].
“And you’ve got to agree with it the majority of the time, there is no accountability.”

After months of fan protests and an increasingly toxic relationship between the Evertonians and the board it was a major step to see resignations, even though there are suggestions was an expensive development for the Toffees [The Esk, 20 July].
Kenwright is arguably the figure that has riled up supporters more than any other in recent years, and it appears he was ready to walk as well, so logically he should go when the new MSP Sports Capital seats are filled.
But logic doesn’t always have a place in moves at Goodison Park these days, so with Moshiri apparently going out of his way to keep the chairman on board once, there will likely be similar fears to Campbell’s within the fanbase that he might yet stay on for the foreseeable future.
In other Everton news, the club have been tipped to happily pay a league rival £10m for a player who is an “asset” to the side.
