Alan Myers shares El Bilal Toure transfer update as striker prepares to snub Everton

Almeria striker El Bilal Toure is set for a move to Atalanta this summer despite strong interest from Everton according to Fabrizio Romano, but trusted Everton journalist Alan Myers has now provided his update on the situation.

Myers shared via his personal Twitter account overnight on 24 July that the Toffees have already agreed a deal with Almeria for the transfer of their striker, but it was left up to the player to decide his destination, ultimately choosing Italy over Merseyside.

Toure’s decision will come as no surprise, given reports throughout the summer that he would prefer a move to Atalanta should it come down to a choice between the two clubs [Sacha Tavolieri].

Onwards and upwards

Having missed out on what seems to be their third key striker target this summer, Everton will need to pick themselves up and move on once more to other targets, as the club desperately searches for forward reinforcements this summer.

This news follows reports that Brian Brobbery would snub an Everton move in favour of staying with Ajax, while Victor Boniface approaches a move to Bayer Leverkusen despite interest. The news of Toure’s decision will feel all too familiar to Everton fans this summer.

Everton

The Toffees have made further signings upfront a priority this summer, and will still target new strikers following the arrival of Arnaut Danjuma on loan, as they look to solve their attacking issues that saw them score the second-lowest tally of goals in the Premier League last season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has long suffered from injury issues, while last season’s key striker signing Neal Maupay has proved to be profligate in front of goal, as the duo found the net on a combined three occasions last season, despite playing 44 games between them.
