Lewis Warrington unlikely to be in Sean Dyche’s Everton plans, Plymouth want to sign him on loan
Plymouth Argyle want to sign Everton midfielder Lewis Warrington on loan after it emerged he is unlikely to be in Sean Dyche’s plans, according to TEAMtalk.
Writing on their website (25 July), the news outlet reports that the Championship outfit are leading the race to sign Warrington on loan for the upcoming season.
Warrington was hopeful of getting a first-team opportunity after the exit of Tom Davies opened up a midfield spot, but Dyche is unlikely to rely on him and now an exit looks more possible.
“But with the player unlikely to break into Sean Dyche’s plans at Everton in the coming season, the club are open to letting him go out on a temporary basis once again,” they wrote.
“A number of clubs have made enquiries about Warrington this summer, but TEAMtalk can reveal that Championship new boys Plymouth are hoping to win the race for the midfielder’s signature.”
Shame
Losing an academy player from the first-team picture this summer was a shame but most fans will agree that Tom Davies was right to be allowed to leave.
He wasn’t of the level required to push us on and away from the Premier League, and while it would be great to see him replaced by someone else from the academy they also need to be good enough.

Warrington is an impressive player and has improved, but stepping up from League One last season into the Premier League this year would be too big of a jump.
A loan move would be very sensible for him, especially to the Championship, if he is going to be playing regularly and hopefully the club can keep a close eye on him and look to integrate him into the squad next year in a similar way to what they have done with Jarrad Branthwaite this season.
