Everton transfer news as optimism for cash injection emerges at Goodison Park
Everton are optimistic about finding funds to sign a new striker, with over £20million needed as they agreed a fee to sign El Bilal Traore, according to iNews.
The Blues are in the market for at least one new forward this summer, as they look to improve their attacking talent, but have been restricted by financial fair play rules that have made spending money incredibly difficult.
However, they appear to have found a breakthrough in their financial state, as demonstrated by their attempted pursuit of Mali forward Bilal Toure from Almeria, although he is set to join Atalanta instead.
Discussing the Blues’ finances, Mark Douglas wrote: “Everton continue to be constricted by Financial Fair Play constraints are working on a strict budget this summer which may make further sales inevitable.
“There is understood to be fresh optimism at Goodison Park about finding funds to land the striker they desperately need, with a £23m move for Almeria’s highly-rated El Bilal Toure highlighting some flexibility in the market.
“The club agreed a fee with Almeria over the weekend but now expect Mali forward Bilal Toure to move to Atalanta, who can offer Europa League football next season. Work is ‘ongoing’ on alternative targets.”
Shackles are off
While it is frustrating that Everton have managed to find the funds to make a deal for Toure possible but look to have been beaten to his signature by Atalanta, it is a big step in the right direction for Sean Dyche’s side.
So many of the teams around Everton in the Premier League have been able to invest heavily in the transfer market this summer and if the Toffees weren’t able to make their own signings they could be in for another torrid season.
Instead, they’ve already started the window well, signing Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villareal and are set to ignore interest from AS Roma for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It’s beginning to feel a bit more positive at Goodison and there are hopes the coming season could be one of relative safety.
But there must be more than just interest and unsuccessful bids, Everton need one of these enquiries to turn into a new striker and the longer that wait goes on, the more anxiety will begin to creep back into Everton fan’s thinking.
Hopefully, that newfound extra bit of wealth will be spent soon and maybe bring with it the goals to secure safety next season.
