EFL interest mooted for highly-rated Tyler Onyango, Everton youngster liked by Carlo Ancelotti
Tyler Onyango could be the next Everton youngster to be subject of interest from clubs in the English Football League (EFL), according to Liverpool Echo journalist Connor O’Neill.
The midfielder spent the first half of last season on loan at Burton Albion and the second half on loan at Forest Green Rovers.
The 20-year-old has four senior Everton appearances to his name, making his debut in 2021 under then-manager Carlo Ancelotti.

“What comes next remains unknown,” O’Neill wrote for the Liverpool Echo. “However, Onyango, you suspect, could be the next youngster at the club to be the subject of interest from clubs in the EFL if it is decided that gaining more first-team experience is what is needed at this stage of his development.
“However, the midfielder sent a timely reminder on Tuesday night of what he is capable of and just why Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez and Duncan Ferguson all think so highly of him.”

Bright future
Onyango has had several opportunities to impress Everton boss Sean Dyche, with the youngster getting plenty of minutes on the pitch in pre-season.
However, the player could still be sent out on loan for next season, as was the case with fellow youngster and fellow midfielder Lewis Warrington, who has been loaned out to Plymouth Argyle after also playing under Dyche this summer.
Onyango has experience developing his career away from Goodison Park, but his manager may feel that there is some way to go yet before the midfielder can compete in a competition as fierce as the Premier League.
Dyche won’t want to be light in that area next season, with funds undoubtedly tight in his search for new players, but it may just be too soon for Onyango.
A bright future is definitely ahead, and perhaps the young midfielder will at least make the jump to the Championship next time out, having played for both Burton and Forest Green in League One.
