Everton investment news: Sky Sports pundit shares ‘terrible’ verdict as deal wait goes on through transfer window

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell isn’t yet concerned that the Everton investment deal hasn’t been announced but would like to see it happen before the transfer window closes.

MSP Sports Capital have been on the horizon for the Toffees since before the end of last season, but despite a summer of reports saying the deal is “close” nothing has been confirmed, with Paul Joyce in The Times (26 July) reporting the same on Thursday.

Ex-Everton captain Campbell accepts that agreements involving major amounts of money can’t be rushed, but would like for there to be some benefit to the transfer window if possible, and feels it would be typical of the club to wait until after deadline day.

The Sky Sports pundit spoke exclusively to Goodison News and said alarm bells weren’t ringing for him: “No it’s not actually because listen, when it comes to money it takes its time.

“When it comes to large sums of money people are going to take their time. Due diligence has to be done, Is dotted, Ts crossed.

“Although, because the window’s open, you want to rush it because you want to bring players in, you can’t rush the money.

“So I understand it’s going to take a bit of time, but I just don’t want it to make life difficult for Sean Dyche.

“I don’t want the investment to come in and the window’s closed. That would just be so Everton, so terrible.”

While the MSP Sports Capital investment is primarily geared towards ensuring the new stadium build is adequately financed, there have been benefits to the transfer situation mooted.

There is still no indication that there are any concerns about the arrangement being completed, so the reason for the ongoing delay isn’t yet clear.

For now the struggles in the transfer market are taking centre stage, with El Bilal Touré choosing Atalanta the latest blow in the search for badly needed striker help.

In other Everton news, a new man who played in the Premier League last season is being eyed for a summer arrival at Goodison.
