Everton and Newcastle United target Oumar Solet makes Premier League transfer admission

Everton and Newcastle target Oumar Solet recently made a revelation about playing in the Premier League to the Daily Mail.

The British newspaper claims [29 July] that both sides may look to make a move for the 23-year-old French centre-back this summer.

He has impressed at RB Salzburg since moving there from Ligue 1 side Lyon a few seasons ago.

Solet said, “I have a lot of ambitions, to be honest. I’m just on my way – for sure the Premier League excites me a lot.

“I feel it’s a league that I can perform in really well and it can bring me to the top. It’s probably the best league in the would. I feel if I have the chance it’s going to help make me become the top player I want to be.

“I try to ignore all the things off the pitch. But obviously, it’s a pleasure to get some interest from other teams because it means I’m doing a great job.”

Worth considering

Everton need at least two centre-backs this summer as both Conor Coady and Yerry Mina are no longer at the club.

An option to make the deal to sign the Wolves defender permanently was not exercised with Sean Dyche perhaps making that call.

With Mina, his contract expired, and there was always a feeling that his head was elsewhere and away from Goodison Park.

Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey have not been consistent over the last 12 months and James Tarkowski desperately needs to have a reliable partner next to him.

Solet could be the perfect one for him at the heart of the Everton defence and his comments on the interest from Premier League clubs are interesting.

It could even be a come-and-get-me plea as the exposure in Austria is nothing compared to the English top flight.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian striker to lead their line for next season.
