Besiktas now likely to abandon pursuit of Everton ace Demarai Gray amid Thursday Fulham development

Besiktas may not have any choice but to abandon their pursuit of Everton attacker Demarai Gray amid Fulham transfer interest.

According to the BBC on Thursday (3 August), the Jamaica international fancies a move to Craven Cottage over moving to Turkey.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has even reported that the 27-year-old has agreed on personal terms with the Cottagers but the Toffees are yet to green signal the sale.

Sky Sports claimed in July that any club keen on signing Gray will have to pay £15million, something that was already going to be a stumbling block for Besiktas.

They do not have the funds to get into bidding wars with clubs in the Premier League even though they might be one of the biggest in Turkey.

Fulham, despite being predicted to finish in the bottom half and maybe even be in a relegation battle, have a bigger budget and more wages to offer.

Besiktas would’ve had a chance if that was the only club Gray wanted to go but it seems to be apparent that he wants to stay in the Premier League and move to London.

This recent development will leave them with no choice but to abandon their pursuit of the Jamaican and look at other options while Everton are probably looking for the Cottagers to pay up the amount which they’re aware they are capable of doing.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian striker to lead their line for next season.
