Replacements claim emerges as Everton, West Ham United and Luton Town in Emiliano Martinez race

Everton, West Ham and Luton Town are all believed to be in the race to sign FC Midtjylland midfielder Emiliano Martinez, according to Tipsbladet.

The Danish media outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (2 August) that the Superliga outfit are not actively looking to sell the 23-year-old they signed on a free transfer last summer.

However, in the event that one of the aforementioned clubs comes in with an offer, they will not be able to resist it and have already lined up replacements if the Uruguay international leaves.

Worth looking into

Right now, the focus at Goodison Park will be to bring in a new striker through the door as soon as humanly possible ahead of the season.

Sean Dyche will be absolutely livid if since January the Toffees have not been able to work on bringing in a quality forward through the door.

There seemed to be hopes with El Bilal Toure but it was evident when Atalanta came in that would be the ideal destination for him.

It now seems like Sporting CP striker Youssef Chermiti is the next favourite option but they have been handed a blow as he’s turned down their opening offer.

Once that transfer situation is sorted, Dyche is likely to ask for a new midfielder and it remains to be seen who he ends up targeting along with Martinez.

If the Uruguayan is his preferred option then it makes a lot of sense to begin initial talks with him right away.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian striker to lead their line for next season.
