Everton look to sign two new forwards as Tom Cannon exit update emerges

Everton are looking to bring two new strikers to the club before they let Tom Cannon leave on loan, with Preston having come close to agreeing a deal, according to Alan Nixon.

The newspaper journalist shared via his Patreon [9 August] that Everton want to give Sean Dyche two new options up front but has failed so far, with sides interested in Cannon left waiting.

Preston are looking to bring the Everton forward back to Deepdale this season after a successful loan spell and came close to meeting Everton’s £1million loan fee asking price before the deal was put on ice.

Dyche wants to strengthen

Everton have been keen on making their squad stronger with attacking additions this summer, as Dyche looks to improve on the pitiful 34-goal tally they achieved last season, which was the second-lowest total in the Premier League.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues and Neal Maupay’s wasteful nature in front of goal have led the Toffees to turn to the transfer market, where they have already done a deal for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma to join on loan while Sporting striker Youssef Chermiti will arrive in the coming days.

It is unknown whether the two strikers mentioned include Chermiti, who is yet to be announced by the club, or whether the club will pursue two other options on top of the 19-year-old.

The new signing’s lack of experience means Dyche wants another forward to support him – one with more experience in top-level football. The Toffees have been linked with a move for West Ham striker Michail Antonio, although they may now miss out.

Cannon is currently on the books at Everton, although several Championship sides have been chasing a deal for him following his spell at Deepdale, but will now have to wait until the Toffees sort out their own deals.
