Everton transfer news as Alan Myers delivers bid update on PSG striker Hugo Ekitike

Everton are still to submit an official bid for PSG striker Hugo Ekitike despite holding a strong interest in him, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist claims that the Toffees are keen on bringing in another striker and have identified the 21-year-old Frenchman as an option.

While their interest is legitimate, an offer is still to go in for the former France under-20 international.

Via Twitter, Myers wrote, “Everton have a strong interest in PSG striker Hugo Ekitike and are monitoring the 21 year olds situation at the French champions, no bid made at this point.”

Move quickly

If Everton are genuinely interested in signing the Frenchman after they seal a deal for Youssef Chermiti, then they have to move quickly.

In the transfer window, the club that waits the longest usually is the one that pays the price.

Everton’s flawed transfer strategy in the past has made them realise this mistake time and again and they cannot do the same thing with Ekitike.

He’s not a regular at PSG and despite being at a big club and the defending Ligue 1 champion, is struggling to get into the limelight, given the names overshadowing him.

This means that in order to get capped for France and be a regular, he will have to move and become a first-choice option at another club.

That club very well can be the Toffees and they can seal the signing as quickly as possible or at least make their best efforts to do so.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian player ahead of next season.
