Everton want two more summer signings despite revelation about failed El Bilal Toure bid
Everton want to make at least two more signings this summer, despite the revelation that many within the club are uncertain about the Toffees’ finances, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The newspaper reported online (8 August) that there was “surprise” in many sections of the club that Everton were able to put together an Atalanta-rivalling bid for Almeria forward El Bilal Toure earlier in the window
The Toffees, according to Alan Myers (25 July), were still rivalling the Serie A side just days before the deal was confirmed, but questions remain over their financial strength despite links to Che Adams, Kelechi Iheanacho and Willy Gnonto.

The Liverpool Echo claim: “There was surprise within some sections of the club that Everton could put together a bid that, albeit unsuccessfully, challenged Atalanta for the signing of forward El Bilal Toure from Almeria.”
Question marks
If Everton aims to get at least two new signings through the door this summer, they must have money to spend.
They have utilised the loan market well this window with the addition of Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal, but with Demarai Gray’s future uncertain amid links to Fulham and Dwight McNeil’s injury, reinforcement may be needed.
However, cash must be there if the Toffees rivalled Atalanta’s bids for Toure. Fabrizio Romano claimed that Toure was sold in a deal worth up to £26.6million, so Everton must have had something like that amount of money to have been in contention.

They have splashed the cash on Portuguese youngster Youssef Chermiti. Sky Sports News reported (5 August) that the Sporting Lisbon star was close to a £12million move to Goodison Park, but the Toffees are still keen on more additions and could have more money to spend.
With sections of the club unconvinced about Everton’s financial power, fans can’t be sure about the trajectory of the rest of the transfer window. However, with decent additions already through the door, it’s not quite time to panic yet.
