Fabrizio Romano provides update on £30.2million Everton target Hugo Ekitike, ‘lot of clubs keen’

Everton are reportedly trying to sign PSG striker Hugo Ekitike, although face plenty of competition for his signature, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist provided an update via Twitter (9 August), claiming that Everton are in “early negotiations” over the signing of the 21-year-old.

Although the Toffees face competition with Romano reporting that there are other clubs keen on the Frenchman’s services.

Despite this, officials at Goodison Park are continuing their pursuit of the forward with the club interested in a loan deal with an obligation to buy, while the French champions want a £30.2million (€35m) total package.

Rush

This would be an incredible signing for the Merseyside club with Ekitike rated very highly and having plenty of room still to develop at such a young age. Bringing the forward to Goodison Park could go a long way in solving some of the issues they had in the goalscoring department last season.

Sean Dyche’s men found the back of the net on just 34 occasions in the Premier League during the previous campaign, finishing as the division’s second-lowest goalscorers, and Ekitike could look to come in and provide a breath of fresh air up front.

Everton

Although, if there is widespread competition across Europe for his signature, the club are going to have to do something they don’t do often in the transfer market, act fast.

The deal is there to be done with PSG clearly willing to sell and fans will be crossing their fingers that the Toffees meet the demands of the French giants and get the deal done.

In other Everton news, developments are expected next week over a player’s exit from the club.
