Everton news as Alan Myers delivers Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury verdict as he misses Fulham clash

Alan Myers has delivered a frustrating verdict on Dominic Calvert-Lewin after the striker missed the Everton v Fulham clash on Saturday, 12 August.

The Sky Sports journalist believes that he was left out as a precaution and the medical staff are managing things before he regains his fitness.

The 26-year-old has had two injury-laden seasons for the Toffees and that’s coincided with their struggles in front of goal.

Via Twitter, Myers wrote, “I think he’s being managed back, frustrating but hopefully it’s what makes the difference.”

Another season of misery?

Everton cannot have Calvert-Lewin as their first-choice attacking option this season and that’s a recipe for disaster.

He may be talented and fit the bill perfectly for Sean Dyche but his form and fitness are massive causes for concern and everyone at the club will be aware of it.

Youssef Chermiti has been signed but he perhaps is not ready to lead the line on a consistent basis for the Toffees this season.

The Portuguese is only 19 and still has some way to go before he’s ready to be a top goal-scoring option for a Premier League side.

That’s not to say that he won’t pull off any surprises but signing a senior striker is always the more recommended and safe option.

It remains to be seen if someone like Hugo Ekitike will end up at Goodison Park as he’s at least more experienced.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian player ahead of next season.
