Aston Villa in hijack attempt of Everton deal for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison – Fabrizio Romano

Aston Villa are “trying to hijack” the deal that was set to take Jack Harrison to Everton from Leeds United, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported via Twitter Sunday evening (13 August) that despite medical tests taking place the same day for a Toffees move the Villans have now entered the frame in an attempt to steal and Harrison is .

As it is down to his relegation release clause being triggered at Elland Road multiple clubs can do so and it will now become a matter for the 26-year-old himself to decide.

The deal to bring the English winger to Goodison Park was advanced enough for The Telegraph to already consider it done earlier on Sunday, but perhaps it is not yet.

Not again

Everton have been linked to Harrison for weeks this summer so they will be hoping that is enough for him to choose them if Unai Emery has come in late.

The obvious concern is the fact that Villa had a far more successful season last term and qualified for Europe, while the Toffees may be set to struggle once more if they can’t get the right reinforcements in.

After losing out on a loan deal for a winger in January when Arnaut Danjuma backed out to head to Tottenham after Frank Lampard was sacked the absolute last thing the club needs is a repeat of that.

Everton

The Villarreal man is now at Goodison Park as one of three men brought in so far, but what appeared to have been wrapped up as the fourth is apparently not sealed yet.

Harrison is set to be unavailable for a few weeks yet this season thanks to injury but clearly the interest is there from multiple sources in the Premier League.

Both clubs started their top flight campaigns with defeat and have apparently reacted by turning their attentions to Elland Road.

In other Everton news, another target has had his relationship with his current club “completely broken” now says Romano.
