Everton transfer news as Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto trying to ‘force’ Goodison Park move

Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto wants to “force” a move to Everton this summer, according to Sportitalia.

The Italian publication reported on its website on Saturday (12 August) that the youngster is “trying in every way” to make the move.

Gnonto started and played 82 minutes in his club’s opening day Championship match against Cardiff City, but hasn’t featured for the Whites since.

“Wilfried Gnonto doesn’t want to play in the Championship with Leeds and is trying in every way to force his move to Everton,” according to Sportitalia.

“The forward of the Italian national team is trying to force his transfer to return to the Premier League again, but at the moment the newly relegated club does not intend to take a step back from its position and believes Willy is not for sale.”

Top talent

Gnonto is clearly a top talent, as shown by the young winger in last season’s Premier League campaign. The teenager was one of the few bright sparks at Elland Road as Leeds were relegated to the Championship.

The Italy international registered tallies of four goals and four assists in all competitions, and at just 19, he can definitely only get better.

Everton will be hoping that the progression comes at Goodison Park, with the Toffees looking like winning the race to sign the winger.

The Merseyside club still need attacking talent despite landing the signatures of Arnaut Danjuma and Youssef Chermiti, and they could do a lot worse than Gnonto.

It would, however, represent a huge loss for Leeds, who have already had to say goodbye to several key players this summer.

Everton fans, though, won’t be too concerned with the issues at the newly-relegated club, with the Toffees having many problems of their own.

In other Everton news, one pundit has slammed the Toffees live on talkSPORT as a “firefighting” transfers verdict is shared.
