Jack Harrison agrees Everton move from Leeds United despite late Aston Villa drama – David Ornstein

Jack Harrison has in fact agreed to join Everton on a season-long loan despite late interest from Aston Villa, according to David Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist reported on the outlet’s website (13 August) that the Toffees have “got the transfer over the line” after a “medical was completed” at Finch Farm.

The 26-year-old was expected to be making the move from Elland Road to Goodison Park earlier in the day, before Fabrizio Romano reported a hijack attempt arriving from Villa Park, with Harrison apparently choosing their move after a direct call from Unai Emery, but it looks like the latest news has switched everything around again.

A dramatic Sunday saw Everton rapidly close in on a move for the English winger, and Ornstein reports the club will in fact push to make it permanent in due course.

The late intervention from Aston Villa brought flashes of Arnaut Danjuma’s failed loan move last January, but it looks like the Toffees may have been successful after all.

Breathless

While Villarreal’s Danjuma may now be an Everton player this season after completing a loan move at the second time of asking, his defection to Tottenham in the winter was a miserable episode.

Romano’s updates Sunday evening meant it looked like Sean Dyche was about to see the same thing happen again, but Ornstein’s subsequent report suggests not.

It is going to be very difficult for anyone attached to this move to be certain what is happening until there is an official announcement.

At the very least the deal is not lost, and may even be about to get sealed on Merseyside, but this is one of the more dramatic sagas of the summer already yet is packed into hours rather than days.

Until Harrison is pictured holding the shirt of his new team for this season there will remain doubts but, while he isn’t actually fit to feature for anyone yet, he would be a useful addition for Dyche.

The Toffees have been trailing him for some weeks this summer and currently appear to still be at the fore, so supporters will be hoping the deal is announced as soon as possible to put the confusion to rest.

In other Everton news, there is “dysfunction” at the club as some are working on a deal to sign a striker that others don’t want.
