Manchester United interested in Amadou Onana, Everton want £60m

Everton will demand £60million for Amadou Onana if Manchester United pursue their interest in the midfielder, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via Twitter (14 August) that the Red Devils are interested in signing the Belgium international.

Myers also suggested that despite United’s interest in the 21-year-old, no offer has been made at this stage.

Everton are reluctant to sell Onana, who has spent just one season at Goodison Park, as reported by The Guardian (14 August).

Profit

If Sean Dyche’s side were to receive a £60m fee, it would see them almost double their investment on the player.

Onana made the switch from France to Merseyside last summer, arriving from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in a transfer worth £33million (BBC Sport).

With the fees that some other Premier League midfielders have been going for this summer, Everton are well within their rights to demand this type of money for a player who had an impressive debut season, especially when taking into account his age and the situation of United.

Everton

It would be a big blow if Dyche lost Onana to Manchester United, although it would come as a big financial benefit to the club. The Red Devils have been known to pay some high fees in the past and therefore might not be put off by the price tag.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on before the transfer window closes.

In other Everton news, another player at the club is keen on making the switch away.
