Everton transfer news as finance claims emerge with Manchester United approach made for Amadou Onana
Manchester United have launched an approach to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer, according to the Guardian.
The British newspaper reported on its website on Monday (14 August), that while the Toffees want £50million+ for the Belgium international, 21, they do not need to sell to sign a new striker this summer.
The Red Devils are understood to be keen on signing a new midfielder after the sale of Fred and Scott McTominay potentially on his way out.

Good money
While most Everton fans will want to keep Onana at the club as he’s the player with the highest ceiling and one of their best players, they will admit that it’s good money for his level right now.
It will be difficult to lose him but if the club will sign four new players with that money and strengthen four other areas while weakening just one, it could make sense on the whole.
Sean Dyche had games where he left the Belgian on the bench so it’s not like his game plan is completely thrown out of the door without him in the side.

If anything, Dyche is known as a manager who adapts after losing his best players and it will not really be a huge loss to be without Onana.
However, United paying that kind of money is a bit too much to wish for and if they bid close to that amount and the midfielder hands in a transfer request then perhaps things may materialise and lead to an exit this summer.
If Erik ten Hag forces the club to shell out that money, they very well can, given the billionaire owners, the Glazers, capable of outspending almost every team in Europe.
In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees are now in a transfer race with Juventus and Napoli to sign an ex-Premier League attacker.
