Everton transfer news as official Johan Bakayoko approach to be made in hours

Everton are currently in talks with PSV for winger Johan Bakayoko and are set to make an official bid in the coming hours, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The RMC Sport journalist shared via his Twitter account on 16 August that Everton have opened talks with the Champions League club over a deal, although they face competition from Paris Saint-Germain who have not left the race yet.

Bakayoko has also been linked with a move to Italian Champions Napoli this summer after they made an offer to PSV, but Everton have now entered talks and are hopeful of bringing him to Goodison Park.

A very exciting option

Bakayoko is the type of player that makes fans want to watch football. A tricky winger with the ability to beat his man, who prefers to be direct in his play and make things happen, which the Goodison crowd are sure to warm to very quickly.

The winger is in the 99th percentile for progressive carries and progressive passes received, while he is in the 96th percentile for both successful take-ons and touches in the opposition penalty area, all when compared to other wingers in competitions outside of the top five leagues [FBref].

Everton have been in the market for wingers throughout the summer transfer window, as their current options consist of wantaway Demarai Gray, injured Dwight McNeil and Arnaut Danjuma who is more of a forward. Sean Dyche was forced to start James Garner as a makeshift right-mid in the game v Fulham.

Everton

Bakayoko would also be capable of playing to Dyche’s style, with the boss preferring his wingers to be hard-working, as he ranks in the 91st percentile for tackles and the 86th for blocks.

In other Everton news, Liverpool are now in talks over a deal for a Toffees star.
