Everton transfer news shared by Alan Myers as Wilfried Gnonto submits Leeds United request

The Everton pursuit of Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto might speed up after he hands in a transfer request, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist reacted to the Phil Hay and David Ornstein Athletic update on Friday (18 August) where they reported that the 19-year-old has given it in writing that he wants to leave Elland Road.

He wasn’t even included in the matchday squad against West Brom, summing up just how much at odds he is with his club.

Via Twitter, Myers responded to a question about the Toffees quest to sign Gnonto being quickened because of this by saying, “It might.”

Good news

Everton are now in the driver’s seat as Gnonto has formally made a point that he wants out of Elland Road.

It’s baffling how Leeds are keeping the attacker against his wishes and they need to let him leave as soon as possible.

The Toffees do have the money and have submitted multiple bids for the Italian this summer so it’s evident that they mean business.

This is just an indicator that Gnonto too desperately wants the move as there are not believed to be any other clubs this close to signing him.

He proved last season that he can wreak havoc in the Premier League and he’ll be a very good fit for Sean Dyche.

Whether or not this deal is done, remains to be seen as Leeds and their new owners will try and do everything they can to keep him at the club.
