Wilfried Gnonto submits written transfer request to Leeds United, £25m Everton bid rejected – David Ornstein

Everton are set to return with an improved offer for wantaway Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, who has submitted a written transfer request, according to David Ornstein.

Writing in The Athletic (18 August), the reliable journalist claimed that the Toffees are prepared to return with an improved offer for the 19-year-old after seeing multiple bids rejected.

Their most recent offer, which was turned down, for the Italy international was worth £25million, including bonuses and a sell-on clause.

Leeds United are continuing to insist that the player is not for sale, although his official written transfer request might now make a transfer harder to deny.

Supporters at Goodison Park will now be full of hope that they can get a deal for the exciting Leeds youngster across the line. The player submitting an official transfer request will make a deal much easier to complete for Sean Dyche’s side.
