Everton transfer news as Alan Myers shares Wilfried Gnonto claim as he hands in request at Leeds United

Alan Myers does not see Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto completing his Everton medical over the weekend despite claims to the contrary.

The Sky Sports journalist reported on Saturday (19 August) that any talk of Leeds accepting his transfer request is premature.

While the Toffees remain interested in the 19-year-old Italy international, a medical is yet to be scheduled at Goodison Park.

Via Twitter, when asked about a medical and agreement, Myers responded, “Don’t think so.”

Keep trying

Gnonto has been creating a fuss at Elland Road for the past few weeks and he’s not likely to give in until he gets his move away from the club.

After getting relegated, a number of Leeds players have left, with a number of them going on loan while the rest have been sold.

It thus makes sense why they’re fighting so hard to keep the Italian at the club but there are no pros in keeping an unhappy player there.

He’s clearly not at the level of the Championship and has already proven he can do a good job in the Premier League.

Still only 19, he’ll certainly be an upgrade on the wide players at Goodison Park and he’s also capable of leading the line for Everton.

Given the number of injuries at the club currently, it makes sense to prioritise a move for him.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are now in a transfer race with Juventus and Napoli to sign an ex-Premier League attacker.
