Everton transfer news as Paris Saint-Germain want permanent Hugo Ekitike exit after bid

Everton have made a £34.1million bid in an effort to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike, with the French club preferring a permanent sale to a loan, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper shared via their website on 24 August that the French giants are open to either a loan or permanent deal, but would prefer the latter after Everton’s bid, which consisted of £29.8million with £4.3million in add-ons.

The Merseyside club are facing competition from European clubs AC Milan, Lyon and Eintracht Frankfurt for the striker, while Premier League rivals West Ham are keen on him after selling Gianluca Scamacca earlier this summer.

Huge money is being thrown around

Everton’s bid of a £34.1million total would see PSG make almost £10million profit after signing Ekitike for £24.4million just one year ago, in what would be a great business deal for the French giants as they look in a different direction to the big-money outlay of previous years.

Ekitike would be an interesting coup by Everton, beating some of Europe’s biggest names to the deal suggests he is a highly-coveted player with plenty of potential, and the price tag also backs that up.

Reports earlier in the summer suggested that PSG boss Luis Enrique is a big fan of the forward, but the club have made the decision to let him go in an attempt to raise transfer funds.

Everton have been looking to reinforce their squad in the forward department this summer after they struggled for goals last season, and want to bring Ekitike in to compete with Dominic Calver-Lewin for a starting place, while Neal Maupay and Youssef Chermiti wait in the wings.

In other Everton news, an unnamed Premier League club have made an offer for one Everton-linked forward.
