Sean Dyche provides Everton transfer update after Beto and Che Adams developments

Sean Dyche has reiterated Everton are continuing to work on signing new players, but would not confirm if Udinese striker Beto is one of those on the Toffees’ radar.

Everton, who find themselves bottom of the Premier League after two rounds of fixtures, have been linked with an array of players ahead of the transfer window closing at 11pm on 1 September.

However, reporter Graeme Bailey claimed on Thursday [24 August] that deals for both Beto and Southampton striker Che Adams are now “highly unlikely” to go through at this stage.

Asked for an update on Everton’s business during his pre-Wolves news conference on Thursday [24 August], via Everton’s official YouTube channel, Dyche said: “The deals we’re trying to do are the ones we can do.

“I was trying for Harry Kane but that didn’t work out.

“[New signings] don’t come cheap or walk in here for nothing. You need to find ways of constructing deals that another club would agree to, a player would agree to and an agent would agree to.”

When asked specifically if Beto is a target, Dyche said: “There’s loads of people we’ve been linked with.”

Worrying times

Bottom of the table and in desperate need of at least one new attacking player, Everton quite simply need to get a deal over the line to give supporters some hope.

Links with Adams hardly got Everton’s fanbase excited, but the Englishman would at least have given Dyche another option up top.

If the latest development is anything to go by, even a move for Adams now seems to be off the cards – never mind the pursuit of talented Portuguese attacker Beto.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin confirmed out of the big clash with Wolves on Saturday [26 August] with a facial injury, and fears he could be set for another spell on the sidelines, the need for a new forward has only increased.

Dyche was correct in stating that new signings do not come easy, but the Toffees have effectively had three months to solve a troublesome area, and so far only the untested Youssef Chermiti has arrived.

Should no further arrivals be forthcoming prior to the window closing, you really do fear the worst for the Toffees’ long-running stay in the top flight.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been urged to sign one of their former strikers who is now at another Premier League club.
