Che Adams update emerges in new Everton transfer news
Everton remain hopeful of signing Southampton striker Che Adams, despite making an approach for Udinese star Beto, according to The Express.
The newspaper reported on its website on Thursday [24 August] that Everton have so far been unable to entice Southampton to sell Adams.
A deal is still said to be “very much alive”, with the Saints pondering Everton’s improved £15million bid – £3m more than they first offered earlier in the week.

As also reported by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday [24 August], Everton have also tabled an offer of around £22.5m for Beto.
Double deal?
Everton only have themselves to blame for allowing their desperate search for another striker to go down to the final week or so of the summer window.
The dream scenario for Sean Dyche’s men would be to get a double deal over the line for Adams and Beto before the 11pm deadline on 1 September.
But at this rate, signing just one of the pair is looking like a major ask as Southampton and Udinese are both playing hardball.
Udinese are said to be holding out for around £30m for Beto [Graeme Bailey], so Everton’s current bid is surely going to be swiftly knocked back.
The £15m bid for Adams is far more likely to succeed, at which point the Toffees will have a big decision to make with regards to Beto.

Given the state of their attack, Adams’ arrival alone is not going to be enough to completely transform the squad.
If Everton mean business, they simply have to get deals over the line for both Adams and Beto, a man who has proved he knows how to find the net in Serie A.
That would go a long way to lifting the mood of Everton’s glum fanbase, but for now it remains a case of frustratingly awaiting further updates.
In other Everton news, Dyche has provided an update on the facial injury sustained by Dominic Calvert-Lewin last weekend.
