Everton transfer update emerges on Nico Elvidi – Alan Myers
Alan Myers has insisted that he has not heard anything regarding an Everton move to sign Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi.
The Sky Sports journalist took to Twitter on 28 August, where he responded to a fan who had asked for his thoughts on the potential move, which was reported by Gianluca Di Marzio [27 August], claiming he had not heard that.
Di Marzio claimed Everton had made contact with the German side over a potential move for Elvedi, and that talks were ongoing over a possible transfer.
Asked for his thoughts on the latest transfer story, Myers simply responded with: “Not heard that”.
He would be a good option, but priority should lie elsewhere
While Elvedi may pose an interesting option to the Toffees – a 26-year-old defence with eight years of top-division experience under his belt – it has become clear that the club’s priorities lie elsewhere as we enter the final week of the transfer window.
There is no doubt that Everton could improve in defence. Michael Keane has been somewhat of a liability already this season, while James Tarkowski is ageing and will need replacing at some point in the not-so-distant future, but it is not the key as of yet.

Number one on the list of Everton’s current priorities is a striker. The club are working hard to seal deals for both Beto of Udinese and Southampton forward Che Adams as they look to fix the desperate need for new options, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin facing consistent injuries.
Second on that list should be a new winger. While Jack Harrison has arrived this summer and will return from injury in due course, the club are still badly lacking depth in the wide areas. Lewis Dobbin and James Garner started the game as the wide options against Wolves – that cannot be the case for much longer.
In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has drawn a comparison with Pep Guardiola in new Everton admission.
