Demarai Gray still expected to leave Everton amid transfer deadline
Demarai Gray is still expected to leave Everton ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, according to a report by Liverpool Echo.
Writing on their official website (30 August), the news outlet report that the Jamaica international is still “likely” to leave amid interest from Fulham and Saudi Arabia.
Gray is yet to feature this season with Sean Dyche citing fitness reasons after his outings at the Gold Cup during the summer, but both parties are said to be open to an exit.

“Demarai Gray is wanted by clubs in Saudi Arabia and has also attracted interest from Fulham, and it is still thought he is likely to leave,” they wrote.
“Gray has not been involved in a first-team matchday squad since his return from Gold Cup duty with Jamaica, though Dyche has cited fitness issues as the reason for his absence.”
Typical
It’s interesting that Gray is still expected to leave the club this summer, even though the deadline on Friday night is still so close.
Everton are said to have agreed separate deals for Gray with both Fulham and clubs in Saudi but the club wanted to seal a replacement before letting him go, and that hasn’t happened yet.

But the bonus that Everton have is that the Saudi transfer window doesn’t close until September 7th, meaning there is extra time to get a deal done if something isn’t sorted before Friday.
The Toffees can’t bring anyone in after Friday unless it’s a free agent, but the truth of the matter is that we probably don’t need another replacement now.
Dwight McNeil, Beto, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alex Iwobi, Arnaut Danjuma and Ashley Young can all play in attack so if the money is right a deal can certainly be done. It’s clear Dyche has planned for life without him, so it would be silly not to cash in now with his current contract set to expire next summer.
