Norwich submit multi-million bid for Everton striker Tom Cannon – Sky Sports

Norwich have made a £7million bid for Everton striker Tom Cannon, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster reported via their online live transfer centre (30 August, 5:38 pm) that the Canaries had made an official bid for the 20-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Preston North End.

Cannon is keen on returning to the Championship and wants to make the switch to Carrow Road.

Journalist Alan Nixon had previously shared via his Patreon page (30 August) that Middlesbrough were set to make a move to sign the Republic of Ireland youth international themselves, although it now appears they face competition.

If Cannon is keen on the move and the Toffees are willing to let him go, this is a deal that they should sign off on sooner rather than later. There is no point keeping hold of a player who is not part of Sean Dyche’s plans and an offer of £7million for the striker, who is still just 20 years old, is a good one.

He had a decent spell with Preston in the Championship last time out, scoring eight goals and providing one assist during his 20 appearances in the league for the club. He is a player who could certainly be of use to Norwich, who currently sit second in the division, and it makes sense why they have made an offer.

Unfortunately for the Goodison Park club, there isn’t much time left until the window closes and they therefore won’t have an opportunity to drive the price up.

As a result, if the player wants out, and Dyche doesn’t mind letting him go, they should accept the offer.
