Norwich need imaginative bid to sign Everton forward Tom Cannon as millions offered

Norwich City will have to make an imaginative bid if they want to sign Everton forward Tom Cannon as the transfer deadline approaches, according to Samuel Seaman.

The Norwich Evening News journalist tweeted on 30 August that the potential signing of the 20-year-old is “interesting” for the Canaries and that they are hoping to get a deal done before the end of the transfer window.

The Toffees academy product has been the subject of much interest already this summer, with The Athletic reporting on 30 August that a permanent deal worth about £7.5million has been offered to sign the forward.

No sense

It doesn’t really make much sense at all for Everton to let one of their brightest young talents leave the club on a permanent basis during this transfer window.

The club spent £15million on bringing in 19-year-old Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon as they wanted to add a young forward that they can nurture to their squad.

But they already had Cannon working away in the background and he is a homegrown player that will no doubt be desperate to prove himself at Goodison Park.

Everton

He went out on loan to Preston North End in the second half of last season and did very well, having scored eight goals in 20 games for the Championship outfit.

It’s no surprise to see other sides, as well as the Lilywhites, are sniffing around to land a deal for the striker as it appears as though he could be heading out of Merseyside for the right price with the deadline approaching.

In other Everton news, a Premier League side are plotting a Goodison raid as they have a Blues midfielder in their sights.
