Everton back in talks with Leeds United to sign Wilfried Gnonto in deadline-busting deal
Everton are back in talks for Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto as they try to seal a deadline-busting deal today, report Sky Sports.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (1 September), journalist Lyall Thomas reports that Everton are not giving up on signing the Italy international, but Leeds continue to insist he is not for sale.
Gnonto previously handed in a written transfer request to push through a move and controversially refused to play in games, but the Whites held firm and recently re-integrated him into the squad after he apologised to the squad and manager.
“Everton are back in talks with Leeds over the signing of Wilfried Gnonto,” he wrote.
“They’re not giving up.
“Leeds have previously insisted he is not for sale.”
Crazy
The club must be really confident of getting a deal done for Gnonto at this point if they’re going back in so late having struggled all summer.
Either they’ve decided they’re willing to pay the price Leeds wanted, or something else has changed to give them confidence so late on.

Gnonto is clearly open to the move and has even reportedly agreed personal terms already, and it’s just about finding an agreement between the clubs.
Everton are desperate to find another attacking addition with Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray expected to leave, while the future of Neal Maupay is also up in the air.
It’s literally now or never for Gnonto in this window, and the club need to get a move on to get it done before the 11pm deadline. Dyche wants him, he’s the prime target and has been all summer. So lets see if the board can deliver.
