Everton offered chance to sign Maxwel Cornet and Danny Ings in late double deal with West Ham United

Everton have been offered the chance to sign Maxwel Cornet and Danny Ings from West Ham United, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported on X (1 September) that the Toffees have the chance to make a double signing from the Hammers which will reunite the pair with their former Burnley boss.

Everton have struggled for goals in the Premier League so far this season, being the only side in the division yet to score.

Reinforcements

While two of their new signings, Beto and Arnaut Danjuma, got off the mark in Everton’s EFL Cup clash against Doncaster Rovers, Dyche will still be eager to add depth to his attack.

Beto, in his brief debut against Rovers on Wednesday (30 August), looked the business. While it was a lower-league opposition, he looked to stretch the defence and make spaces for teammates, while Danjuma himself looks to be growing in confidence.

However, the additions of Premier League-proven talent like Ings and Cornet could do a lot for the Toffees’ survival chances. Both players seem to be surplus to requirements at the London Stadium.

Everton

Cornet made just 14 Premier League appearances for the Hammers last season and is yet to get his first goal for the club, after his nine-goal season for Burnley in 2021/22. Meanwhile, Ings’ West Ham career hasn’t been much better. With three goals in 23 total appearances, David Moyes perhaps expected for former Liverpool man to be more prolific.

In the Hammers’ hunt for a new striker, and Michail Antonio’s regular starting, Ings’ time in Stratford could be over, while Cornet’s barely even started.

The pair could do with a fresh start at a new club. Sean Dyche has got the best out of both players. Ings’ 26 goals in all competitions in the 2013/14 season for Burnley remains his highest-ever return, while Cornet looked dangerous for Burnley in the Premier League two years ago and truly earned the move to the London Stadium.

If Dyche can get them back to scoring ways, Everton could be looking comfortable after an alarming start to the season.

In other Everton news, a recently-relegated Championship club have made a late bid for a young Toffees forward.
