Everton receive last-gasp Saudi Arabian offer for Demarai Gray – Alan Myers

Everton winger Demarai Gray is set to remain at Goodison Park for the coming season, despite an offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist shared via his personal Twitter account that Gray will remain an Everton player, despite being expected to leave the club throughout the summer.

With the window closed in England, the club would be unable to sign a replacement for Gray, so despite there being seven days remaining for Saudi Arabian clubs to make transfers, this one will not materialise.

Rebuild the relationship

Gray has not featured in Sean Dyche’s side so far this season, despite of course remaining on the books at the club, as he looked to find a move away from Goodison Park this summer with Premier League and Saudi deals rumoured for the last couple of months.

A last-gasp bid from an unnamed side would have to have been the difference maker in terms of this deal, but it was turned down. Everton will now reintegrate Gray into the squad and hope he can perform to the required level as they look to survive in the Premier League.

Alex Iwobi is expected to depart the club in a move to Fulham in the coming hours in a very late deadline-day move, meaning Everton will need further cover on the wings, which may have contributed to Gray’s continued presence at the club.

Everton

Iwobi had started the opening games of the season playing on the left-hand side in Dyche’s side as they lack strength in depth with the current injuries to Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison, but Gray may now look to fill that space.
